Forum thread started by Ezprezo on Wed, 2011-12-21 17:28

Hello everybody. I wanted to try out Haiku on my old hobby computer, which is a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ140E.

As you can see in this picture: http://i.imgur.com/5xoqi.jpg there is quite a problem, and I am not sure what it is. I am assuming it's a graphics card problem, so is there any current way to fix this issue, or is this computer simply not compatible yet? Thank you ahead of time for any help I receive.

Haiku running in Virtualbox hangs at boot (closed)

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Sun, 2011-12-18 04:14

Hey, I have a slight problem and I hope that there is a solution to my dillema. I finally was successful installing Haiku in Virtualbox, but now when I start the OS it just hangs at the boot screen. It tells me that everything has loaded (the icons light up under the haiku logo) but then it just sits there and doesn't boot in. I set the virtual machine with 20Gb of HD space and 2048mb of RAM and 12mb of graphic acceleration, with 3D acceleration disabled. Can anybody help? The install was smooth and fast and I have not gotten any error messages of any kind. I also have guest additions installed. Also if it's of any use, after installing it prompted me to quit so that it could restart after installing, but when I clicked quit, it just sat there and I had to manually shut down the virtual machine. Sorry for all the mumbo jumbo, but I really want to test and help develop Haiku. Currently I am running Virtualbox on a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion. If you need more specs I can give them.

cursor unresponsive when running Haiku in Virtualbox on a MacBook Pro. Could the trackpad and magic mouse..... (closed)

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Sat, 2011-12-17 18:52

I recently decided to run Haiku on my new MacBook Pro and I am running it in Virtualbox. The machine boots up nicely but after Virtualbox indicates to me that there is mouse integration between my computer and the running virtual machine, I accept the notification but when I go to continue my mouse is totally unresponsive in the virtual machine. The cursor runs smoothly on my desktop but as soon as I enter the virtual machine, the cursor is not moving. I have tried an Apple Magic mouse; unresponsive, the laptop trackpad; unresponsive. I have guest additions installed as well as usb integration. I run Ubuntu in the same Virtualbox software and the mouse/trackpad works perfectly. Help?

Thanks!

The process is fairly painless; just enter your email address (kept private, of course), and the system will mail you a temporary password.
