Webpositive issues

Forum thread started by DFergATL on Sat, 2015-01-24 02:36

Ok, so Webpositive is really frustrating me. I can use it for 3-5 min and then it just stops working. The windows can still be drug around the screen. If I click a button it visually looks like it was pressed. I can navigate all the menu options. But it will just stop loading pages and will not quite. Not even process controller will make it quite I have to shut down the laptop to get it to work again. Then it works a few min, then the same thing....

Webpositive.

I downloaded a nightly a few days ago, just wanted to check out how it was going. I have to say it is going rather well, looking good.

I am using Webpositive and having a problem with gmail.

First, I discovered that you have to add the "s" in https: yourself, webposite will not add it for you. I was then able to get to youtube, and gmail..

I can't seem to log into gmail though. It just sits on authenticating... I have not tried to log into Youtube, or Facebook yet.

Any ideas?

DriveSetup always says "The selected disk is read-only"

Forum thread started by frank4360 on Wed, 2015-01-07 18:03

Hello

I am trying to install Haiku on a HP/Compaq netbook using USB flashdrive - I am devoting the entire 240 GB hard drive to Haiku. I have used Gparted to create unallocated, Fat32 and NTFS filesystems, and I have even set the boot flag on them. Whatever I do, and this is now the 5th or 6th attempt, DriveSetup says the disk is read-only and will not continue!

Any ideas welcome.

I am booting the haiku-r1alpha4-anyboot.image.

X31 & nightly builds

Forum thread started by stoltenberg on Thu, 2015-01-01 18:25

hi there.

i'm using an ibm x31 with beos 5 max and haiku-partitions. everything was working fine (including lan/wlan) until a few months ago.
for some reasons and without any modifications the lan doesn't work on beos/haiku and wlan-connections under haiku failed, too.
(beos is rejecting both standard-drivers on startup, haiku shows the atheroswifi-driver only …?)

so i tried some nightly builds today. i was able to install the 48590 in safe-mode only and it runs (in safe-mode).
i'm very tired after the last years with haiku, but do not want to give up too early ;-) do you have any ideas where i could start?
i read some articles on http://development.pistooli.com, that shows the x31 perfectly running with nightly builds :-(

thank you!

Font Management Questions

Forum thread started by Jayel on Mon, 2014-12-15 21:14

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a stupid question.
I have generally been able to muddle through without having to ask any questions, but...

Is there a way to add fonts to increase my choices?

I originally started using R1A4, but after reading so many posts that related to improvements enabled in the nightlies I recently began using those. Every time I install a new nightly it just gets better and better, with one exception (for me) so far. In R1A4 I was able to install new fonts alongside the originals in the system folder, thus allowing me more font choices with some of the software (i.e. WonderBrush). But I just realized recently that with the nightlies I am unable to add fonts to the fonts folder.

I can understand why the developers would want to lock down certain folders in an ever-changing development environment, but why in the world would one want to lock down the fonts folder, especially when that is one of the keys areas the "average user" generally wants to change things. Anecdotal to be sure, but at my age, I'm not all that geeky and everyone that I know (who is equally un-geeky) has had some reason to add fonts on occasion. I tried adding the fonts through the Home folder, but that didn't work...

Am I stuck with having to reinstall R1A4 alongside the nightly install and bounce my project files back and forth?
Or am I missing something obvious... or maybe not-so-obvious?

Any feedback appreciated... Thanks for your time.

New nightly won't boot on Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 motherboard

Forum thread started by AndrewZ on Sun, 2014-12-14 17:30

I just got a new, used motherboard and it won't boot. It displays the boot icons and stops there. I tried to boot from CD and from a pre-built disk and there is no difference. I enabled safe boot with no difference. When I enable debug logging it does this:

...
add_memory_type_range from 105 to 115 then
PCI: PCI controller found
PCI: FixupDevices: checking bus 1, 2, 3
PCI: Dom 0, bus 0, dev 28, func 0 changed PCI bridge control from 0x0000 to 0x0003

Does this 3 times then stops

Any ideas? Only USB devices are mouse and kb. 8 GB RAM, quad core CPU.
