Thumbnails

Forum thread started by DFergATL on Sun, 2011-06-26 16:25

Ok, so I have been playing with BeDock. I was trying to find Haiku style icons to use when I came across http://haikuware.com/directory/view-details/system-files/icons/3deyes-ha.... They were in HVIF format and I didn't know if they would work, well they did. :) But, some of the things I wanted were missing. After some hunting around I found where I could download the artwork for haiku and volia I had all the icons I could use.

Just one thing is dogging me. When I downloaded the "3deyes" and unizpped it all the icons showed with thumbnails, and displayed great in the "icon" view grid as well as list view. But, the ones that I downloaded, the same format. Have a generic icon and do the usual mess when displayed in icon view. So, how did they get those ones to have thumbnails and display so nicely in Tracker??

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I didn't know where else to put it

Atheroswifi Broken with WEP

Forum thread started by ccmoreilly on Sun, 2011-06-26 09:10

Hi,

I have spent the greater part of 10 hours trying to figure out why wifi is not working with my Atheros (AR2413) PCI card. I have read the online guide, followed it exactly and it does not work. I remove the WEP and the wifi works fine. However it is unrealistic to expect that my wifi will be unprotected.

I have gone on IRC and a few others who have helped me also have had trouble with atheroswifi.

Any suggestions? Or should I just wait for WPA/WPA2 to be supported?

Disable swap?

Forum thread started by xvedejas on Sun, 2011-06-26 07:40

I'm running Haiku installed to a USB drive (2GB) and it looks like swap space is taking up a whole gigabyte of this, leaving me with around 200MB of free space. Is it possible to disable swap to disk?

Connect to Wifi?

I was just wondering if there was a way to connect to wifi on Haiku?

If there is, how?

Thanks :)

Laptop Users

Forum thread started by DFergATL on Fri, 2011-06-24 20:20

I am hoping that other laptop users may be able to come to my rescue. I have a Dell Latitude D430, I have everything working, YEA!! The one thing I can't work out is. When I close the lid on the laptop it shuts the screen off. When I open it again, the screen does not come back. I just installed Haiku on this, I did have Aros, and before that Linux, and it worked fine then. It is forcing me to hold down the power button to shut off haiku and the bring it back up. this isn't good for the OS. I can either try to remember to never, ever shut the lid while Haiku is running. Or, hope someone here may have seen this and know a way around it. I have looked in the Bios and can't find anything that would seem to help.

But, what joy, everything works :) Native Video, NIC, Wireless, Sound (via opensound) Ahhh, bliss..

Opensound

Forum thread started by DFergATL on Thu, 2011-06-23 18:38

I have almost everything on my Dell working. I am having to use Opensound for my Intel HD Audio as the current native one does not support my specific one. I followed the directions and can say I now have something that resembles sound, but it isn't good. If I had to describe it I would say "Studdering" and I can't figure out how to fix that.

Printing with Gutenprint using Canon Pixma MP250 does not work

Forum thread started by admin on Thu, 2011-06-23 15:42

I'm using Haiku Alpha 3 on an ASUS EeePC 701 and have a Canon Pixma MP250 printer. I installed the printer and configured it to use Gutenprint as a driver. Printing does not work (see the video I made below):
