Build Haiku gcc4hybrid on Debian 6 x86-64

Forum thread started by Hubert on Thu, 2011-03-10 13:25

Hi.
As I recall one of the commit I can on Linux x86-64 build Haiku gcc4, unfortunately I can't build buildtools for gcc2, making it impossible to build hybrids.

buildtools for gcc4:

...develop/haiku/trunk/generated.x86gcc4/cross-tools-build/gcc'
binutils and gcc for cross compilation have been built successfully!

buildtools for gcc2:

Configuration x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu not supported
Configure in /home/hubert/develop/haiku/trunk/generated.x86gcc2/cross-tools-build/gcc/gcc failed, exiting.

Is there any way around this problem? In addition to changing the version of Debian on x86.

Installation problem

Hey all,
I tried to put Haiku on a new system and it doesn't even get as far as the screen with the icons. The screen just goes black after the initial series of dots. This much is normal, but the loader/icon screen usually appear shortly after that and on this computer there's just nothing, so there's not much to go on. Tried holding the safe mode key (thinking it was a problem with the monitor) but still nothing shows up. Any idea what's causing this or should I just go straight to trying to install from USB?

Help with Multi-Boot System

Forum thread started by c0op3r on Tue, 2011-03-01 03:00

Hello everyone

I am a new user here but not totally new to BeOS and Haiku, I had BeOS 4.5 running on a Dual P3 back in the day, and I recently came across a system that was very similar, blah blah . . . Snip!

OK to get to the point I have the system setup to multi-boot using Grub, I currently have Win Xp, in the First Partition, a small Grub chainload partition, and an extended partition for the Ubuntu and Haiku.

I can boot the Ubuntu and the XP with no problems, but when I try to boot the Haiku CDrom so that I can install it in the partition that I have set aside for it, I can never get the CD to load all the way. Haiku Boot CD gets 4 icons in and then jumps out into debug mode with an error of 'did not find any boot partitions'

I know the Haiku CD works, because I have installed, Haiku before but the only way I could get it to work was to have a Hard Drive that had nothing on it.

So any help will be great.

troubleshoot about compiling

Forum thread started by Giova84 on Thu, 2011-02-24 19:06

Hello everyone.
Many years ago, on BeOS, I built Gnu/Anubis (http://www.gnu.org/software/anubis/) with successful.
On Haiku i get many errors at the make command.
First of all in terminal i do:

cp /boot/common/share/libtool/config/config.*

and then:

configure --build='i586-pc-haiku'

All went ok.

But at the end of "make" i get these errors:

In file included from /boot/develop/anubis-4.1/src/anubisdb.c:21:
/boot/develop/anubis-4.1/src/headers.h:88: sys/fcntl.h: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [anubisdb.o] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/boot/develop/anubis-4.1/src'
make[2]: *** [all] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/boot/develop/anubis-4.1/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/boot/develop/anubis-4.1'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Any suggestion? I need some developer tools?

Where is the /boot?

Forum thread started by dupek on Wed, 2011-02-16 20:33

You can recognize newbie with this question. I got dilemma. I read that I should move downloaded file to /boot and unzipped there. The problem I have - I do not know of with /boot folder. Got few there. If I press on Haiku folder, am I in /boot or root. I saw /boot under /system but I ma not sure if that is the right one. Could you some help here. Thanks.
