Sound

Forum thread started by dupek on Tue, 2011-02-15 20:30

Where I can find Realtek HD driver?. My sound is not working. I do not know of what I did wrong, but after the latest night install(40501), I lost internet. Got error:
Could not open WebPositive - missing librarys:libicu-common.so.4.2.libicu-data.so.4.2
I reinstalled the original and WebPositive work.

ralinkwifi driver RT2561/RT61

Forum thread started by gif on Tue, 2011-02-15 13:36

hi there!

i recently installed several versions of the haiku-nightlies (most recently 40448 gcc2-hybrid), but i can't get the ralinkwifi driver working.
the card is ok, i had it working under several other (mostly useless) os-es.

ok so my device is being reported as "device 0301: RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI" by listdev (full list here: http://gif.7miles.hu/listdev.txt),
and the kernel reports the following error into syslog (more here: http://gif.7miles.hu/syslog.txt):

KERN: [ralinkwifi] (ral) bus_alloc_resource(1, [0], 0x0, 0xffffffff, 0x1,0x6)
KERN: [ralinkwifi] (ral) could not allocate interrupt resource

the machine is a packard bell easynote r1004 laptop, some 4-5 years old, it should be best for some haiku geekness :)

any help is much appreciated.

cheers

Sound problem in Nightly 40448

Forum thread started by paulfxh on Sat, 2011-02-12 23:24

I just upgraded an older nightly to r40448 gcc2hybrid and nearly everything went OK.
The one problem I have is with sound.
I have an Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) sound card for which the Haiku hda driver doesn't work. So, I've been using OSS and never had any difficulties.
Now, however, although the media player (I use VLC) plays fine, osstest does not produce any sound at all.
The terminal output from the test is as follows:

~> ~> osstest

The processes mentioned in the output are:
231 Intel HD Audio Control
287 Osstest
352 Osstest

I did not have this issue in earlier versions of Haiku.
Anybody know what could be wrong here?

Install drive

Forum thread started by arrogios on Wed, 2011-02-09 16:38

I have a MacBook Pro (13", the first generation of that computer to be called "Pro"), and I want to download Haiku onto it. I just upgraded to a 640GB SATA to dualboot at 320G each (Mac and Windows). I don't want to remove anything from either side (that's why I went through the pain of buying a new SATA the first time around), so I want to install Haiku onto an NTFS-partitioned 1TB external SATA. Is this possible? How?

Any help is appreciated.

How to upgrade to current Nightly Build of Haiku?

Forum thread started by macsociety on Sat, 2011-02-05 23:04

How does one update their current Haiku to the current Nighlty Build? Is there a simple upgrade process where one retains all the apps and settings they have done so it just updates the few things they did since the one we are running? Or. a, I basically having to erase my USB Thumb Drive and starting from scratch downloading and using the new build? Took me a bit to get my booting Haiku and testing some issues and was asked to upgrade to current nightly build and I have never done this so figured I would ask.

Thanks

system call for current date, time

Forum thread started by KantosKan on Fri, 2011-02-04 02:51

Hello,
Is there a system call to get the current date and time? I can't find anything except real_time_clock
in the BeBook. The header support/DateTime.h contains classes BDate, BTIme, BDateTime,
but I can't get them to work, and can't find documentation.
Sincerely,
KantosKan
