No sound with VB OSE

Forum thread started by 24bit on Fri, 2011-01-21 23:03

Hi,
I don't hear a sound ouput from HAIKU.
I can open the media control panel and there is a Auich ICH AC97 mixer pane. How do I proceed?
My apologizes if this question has already been asked in the past, I did not find an answer in the support forum.

Thank you!

Ethernet connectivity

Forum thread started by 24bit on Fri, 2011-01-21 14:38

Hello,
many thanks to all of you, who develop and maintain this beautiful OS!
I set up Alpha2 in VB-OSE with Mandriva and it runs like a charm.
Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to connect to the internet with HAIKU.
My other guests in Virtual Box connect with no problem.
My network adapter is set to PCnet-FAST III (NAT) by default.
My cpu is AthlonX2 64 5000+

Could someone help me through this, please?

no usable screen with nVidia 7600 GO

Forum thread started by wretched_dutchman on Wed, 2011-01-19 12:31

Hello,

I've tried to boot haiku on my laptop with an nVidia 7600 GO, but it gave me a terrible torn screen when entering the desktop. Upon entering it looks equal blue, but when moving the mouse I can see the pointer on several positions horizontally in a vertically stretched manner.
This issue occurs both with r1a2 and the nightly downloaded on Jan. 6th.

My hardware configuration is as follows:

I'm not familiar with driver debugging, so it would be appreciated if someone could tell me how I can help me solve or at least pinpoint this problem.

Issues on Dell Latitude D400

Forum thread started by nalbinos on Tue, 2011-01-18 20:09

Hello.

I have a major issue on my Dell Latitude D400 (Centrino, Intel onboard video).

First when i boot into Haiku at the end of the loading bar (the little icons who pop up) i must press the key to switch to an external display to get into the Haiku desktop. (Fn + F8)

And when i am on the Haiku desktop, the screen is not centered. And the top of the screen shows a thumbnails : 4 screens which show the boot loading...

I try to change the resolution but it did nothing. I also tried the safe video mode but it still the same. The driver seems to be correctly installed because it is Intel Accelerate driver.

Anyone have a clue ?

Sorry for my poor English.

Thanks.

No keyboard or mouse support, Dell Studio 17

Forum thread started by kp3ft on Tue, 2011-01-18 14:09

Burned the R1-alpha2 ISO and it installs fine on my two older computers, but won't work on my Dell Studio 17 because there's no mouse or keyboard support. The specific model number of the Dell is s1737-020b. It gets to the window where you choose to install it or run it as a LiveCD, but can't go any further due to the mouse/keyboard issue. I found the same thing with the first release of Haiku, and also various nightly builds I tried. Would love to get it to work on this Dell. It has Windows Vista and Ubuntu which both work fine with no mouse/keyboard problems, so I don't think it's a hardware problem. Thanks for any help.

r1 Alpha 2, "undertaker" boot error

Forum thread started by Bobthearch on Tue, 2011-01-18 04:05

Having trouble booting into r1 Alpha 2 from hard drive. The LiveCD and r1 Alpha 1 boot fine on the same hardware. Kernel Debug Land error starts off as:

Thread 3 "undertaker" running on cpu 0
stack trace for thread 3 "undertaker"
kernel stack: 0xffff8000 to 0xffffc000

Searched forum and dev-Haiku bugtracker and didn't come across anything similar.

Any ideas? Need more information?

Touchpad on Panasonic CF-52 does not work

Forum thread started by unueco on Sun, 2011-01-16 16:15

Greetings:

I have just installed Haiku on a boot USB.

The boot sequence seems to completely successfully.....with the exception that the white arrow cursor is "stuck" in the middle of the screen. I cannot control it with the touchpad and have no external mouse to even try using.

Is this a known problem? Is there some other driver that needs to be installed?

Thank you.
