Media PC

Forum thread started by aSat User on Wed, 2009-03-04 11:01

OK this is just a suggestion but has anyone given any thoughts about using haiku in the future as a home media centre. on hardware such as
a reel-multimedia avantgarde box. In theory it is just a Intel PC .

1. Handle DVB-S2, DVB-C ,DVB-T tuners
2. Video Streaming over home network.

I always thought BeOS and by definition Haiku would be a lot more resilient to the demanding home use than the current crop of systems.

SkyOS development stop: an opportunity ?

Forum thread started by forart.it on Tue, 2009-02-17 11:56

SkyOS development is currently halted news.

The source code release under an open source license is a the 1st covered option and, if this blog claim is true:

"Releasing SkyOS as open source/free software under the MIT or BSD license. By licensing under a very permissive license, it will allow projects from whom SkyOS has used code (e.g. Haiku) to use SkyOS's code where possible."

...we should encourage them to "make the big step" !

Right-click to Copy / Paste etc.

I know BeOS never had this, but

Would it be easy (and acceptable to the Haiku Board of Directors) to have a similar functionality to other OSes and Firefox, etc. whereby in a text entry box or even in the Haiku text control used by Styled Edit to get a pop-up context menu for cut, paste, select all, etc. when right clicking on selected text.

Apologies if there is already a forum thread on this or even if there is already an open ticket for this.

Thanks,

aurora mixer support

Trying to revamp the media side of Haiku, here's an interesting project to "port":

http://www.auroramixer.com/

Quote:

aurora is a usb powered multichannel mixer in a typical dj form factor. the device features two linear channel faders, a single a/b crossfader and eight backlit buttons. twenty four backlit knobs allow you to control effects. aurora, unlike most midi controllers, enhances performances with controllable ambient lighting. aurora easily integrates with your favorite midi compatible software.

Hope that inspires !
