Swedish translation?

Forum thread started by CUBErt on Fri, 2005-12-09 20:58

Sweden is a rather large Open Source country, even my old grandmother know´s what Linux is! :) Linux, UNIX and BSD i quite common and is used by lots of people. And thats where my suggestion comes in. Why not translate the entire Haiku project into Swedish? It would really help it to gain. I know lots of people who hates Windows more than the plague but dosnt want to try Linux beacurse they think it is to hard. BeOS isn´t hard, BeOS dosn´t get infected by viruses and Haiku is free. So if it where translated into Swedish I am shure lots of people would use it :)

I was thinking that, as a part of distinguishing Haiku from the original BeOS (and possibly for the same trademark reasons that necessitated the name change in the first place, but I'm not sure if it applies), we should consider changing the directory and filenames that specifically refer to BeOS.

multimedia

I have another idea. Beos is a great system with great multimedial capacities. A "new" possibilty, beos not supports is a development enviroment for flash or a new (open) language with the same features.

Theres a great Hype in Using Vector- Icons and task bars (...), may its possible to do so in Haiku. I am very interested in designing a retroperspective icon style for haiku. Where to do so?

Haiku-Verified Software Database Needed!

Forum thread started by Luposian on Tue, 2005-11-22 16:11

I have noticed that virtually NOTHING fom BeOS R5 seems to run in Haiku presently.

Because, whatever I try to install, seems to want something that isn't already in Haiku. I can't run SDL-based apps, because Haiku doesn't have SDL. I try installing the full package of SDL and I can't do that because something else is missing that IT needs! ARRRGH! Usually it's some series of .so files or somesuch, but still!
