Multiple local sessions for R2, off course

Forum thread started by Doca on Wed, 2004-10-06 00:58

I've been searching for a feature rather new to desktop computing, but requested for quite a while.

Me and my parents share a single computer at home, and would be very nice to have simultaneos usage of it. I mean different sessions, totally independent one of another, just by using another group of keyboard, mouse and video.

Mail daemon: Notifying on new mail

Forum thread started by schlesi on Mon, 2004-10-04 20:12

Hi all,

I'm using the Mail Daemon Replacement by Dr. Zoidberg on my BeOS 5 installation. I've created a folder "Spam" and configured the daemon to put all mails that are recognized as spam by the Spam filter into this folder. This works very well.

bitmap-font support

Forum thread started by smithz4096 on Sat, 2004-09-25 09:57

Dear Haiku-Team,

please make sure, Haiku can handle bitmap-fonts as well as anti-aliased outline fonts. At small sizes bitmaps are far superior compared to fuzzy a-a'ed fonts.

Please make sure, font-preferences of haiku work system-wide and consistent.

Some suggestions to add on RC2 ...

Forum thread started by admin on Thu, 2004-09-16 00:38

Ok. Here comes my first post. It should be on the RC2 area, but I just lost myself trying to know where it's discused so I post it here...

I've sketched a way to make self-upgradeable (with commit and rollback) drivers for any OS (and offered it to the now dead Freedows OS). You can then insert a new driver for a video card and enhance the screen appearance inmediatly without almost stopping the drawing and commit the change or rollback inmediatly if it does/doesn't satisfy you completely. Driver updates could be done via self-booting discs or devices, or come from the internet and install automagically via some (security controlled) system calls and presto! Hot upgrades! wink

OpenGL 2.0 is out

Forum thread started by Doca on Sat, 2004-09-11 13:31

Ok folks, OpenGL 2.0.

The first step for having 3D applications is to have a 3D API available, all the basis/structure for drivers and the communication between them.

With OpenGL 2.0, now we have pixel/vertex shaders and all the new features that only DirectX had made available to developers.
