A Haiku Counter?

Forum thread started by cortez on Sun, 2004-08-01 18:18

Has anyone thought of a Haiku/Beos users counter, something similar to the Linux Counter?

http://counter.li.org/

It could give a rough number of haiku users, where do they live, and what kind of hardware they are using. It could encourage some software and hardware companies to develop their products and drivers (also) for Haiku (and Beos). So they can get some kind of an idea how big is the beos community and how big is the market (share).

Haiku R1 goals

Forum thread started by koki on Fri, 2004-07-30 21:59

In the Haiku FAQ, under "What is the Haiku project?", it says:

"The goal of Haiku R1 is to be source- and binary-compatible with BeOS R5. Improvements to Haiku will follow only after R1 is completed."

I would love to see someone resume work on this driver. I downloaded it but was unable to get it to work on an n400c.

Tracker "Get Info"

Forum thread started by leonifan on Sun, 2004-07-25 08:43

Here's one of those (few) things that has always irked me about BeOS:

1) Select a group of files with the lasso.
2) Right click and select Get Info

A whole pile of info boxes appear, one for every file selected.

Donating thru Amazon purchases

Forum thread started by admin on Sat, 2004-07-24 09:18

Hullo!

How about becoming an Amazon Associate, putting the link on the Contribute|Donations page and profit between 5% to 7.5% (in the US up to 9% IIRC) from every purchase?

You could determine a visitor's home country and modify the link accordingly to point to her local Amazon. See also the International Associate Programmes. This, however, needs a seperate account in every country and I'm not sure how to eventually transfer this money to Haiku's home account in the US. If that should prove to be too difficult or expensive, the money could be used to support Haiku developers from the specific country by directly sending them stuff from Amazon.

Edit: fixed stupid spelling mistake... twice(!)

apps team???

Forum thread started by SigmaNunki on Sun, 2004-07-18 17:48

I have tried to find on the web site a place where people are working re-creating the apps that came with the BeOS (ie Poorman), but have been unsuccessful. So, my suggestion is this. Create an Apps team.
