R2 Deskbar Practical Application

Forum thread started by alphaseinor on Thu, 2013-01-17 06:11

I've got the mockup here, most of the bugs have been hashed out... Glass Elevator!
https://www.haiku-os.org/community/forum/new_r2_deskbar_mockup

This will be a complete rewrite of the deskbar code. so I'm going to name it Deskbar 6.0 (GlassElevator Development Prototyple 1)

Now for the code:
I have listed the files that are in the deskbar tree below... it's not the same as the sourceforge repository as I originally thought

"When I first started looking at the Deskbar code I was daunted by the many files and the lack of documentation and it took me a while to get my head around it. The main app is in BarApp.cpp. Deskbar consists of a single main window in BarWindow.cpp which hosts the main view BarView.cpp. Many of the remaining cpp files are child views of BarView.cpp and it's descendants. BarMenuBar.cpp contains the leaf menu, StatusView.cpp is the replicant tray, TimeView.cpp is the clock, ExpandoMenuBar.cpp is the application menu which contains the apps in TeamMenu.cpp and the individual application menu items in TeamMenuItem.cpp as well as the application windows in WindowMenu.cpp and WindowMenuItem.cpp."

A minimalist feel

Hi, this is just an image of an afternoon's ideas... stripping back colours to just highlights, and contours to the active bits. Also, it's what I think is a lovely free font, Raleways.
I'm not sure of the value of unfulfilled mockups like this, but I figure it's at least better here than unseen in my hard drive...

Quick take on Haiku....

Forum thread started by vapourmile on Mon, 2012-11-19 23:58

I'm always on the look out for a new OS, especially one that is designed from scratch to be media savvy, fast and attractive. There is some very tough competition out there and having had one look the desktop design is a miss. The flaps on top of the window which look like they are there to mimic file tabs are unattractive. I'd love to see the desktop receive some beautification!

Haiku Preferences Manager?

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Tue, 2012-07-10 20:08

Hello everyone,

Let me start by saying, I have no idea where Haiku stands on the idea of a Preferences Manager. Obviously, I am aware that the expandable folder is located in the Haiku menu, but there has to be an easier way (if desired) to view all the preferences in one window as opposed to having to go the drop down menu every time (or it's location in tracker).

So, I present the Preferences App that could be implemented in Haiku. *WARNING* this application/software DOES NOT exist. This is purely a schematic, and I put it together with some graphic software.

obviously, there are a few little bugs with this (there should be some faded text in the text field indicating that you can enter some text in there, and I think that the category names should be in bold.

Anyways, give me some feedback, good, the bad or the ugly! ;)

Cheers!

Login Screen - My final design

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Sun, 2012-04-08 16:53

Greetings:

About a week ago, I posted some login designs for haiku. Based on the feedback, the designs where not accepted well. So I decided to buckle down, and put my mind to work. I worked out details on paper, and then came up with this:

Tell me what you think of it, I think it stays pretty real to the classic "haiku design"

Cheers

Simplicity is elegants!

Haiku Login Screen (Concept)

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Sun, 2012-04-01 03:01

Greetings everyone:

It has been a bit since I've done some Haiku concept designs. Feel free to comment giving suggestions, or just general feedback.

THE IDEA:
Currently, Haiku (once booted) displays a nice looking splash-screen (https://www.haiku-os.org/files/images/installation_guide/1-boot-splash.png) and then the os boots to Desktop... but what about a login for passwords or multiple accounts?

I know that the whole login/password idea does add time to the boot, but it would enable multiple users to use Haiku, and that would attract a larger audience to the OS... and it's quite a simple login, no moving graphics or animations, just a simple, fast login.

I have three concept designs, so tell me which one you liked, and why!

Phonograph - Music Player

Forum thread started by el.tigre.20 on Sat, 2012-02-25 07:27

Hello Again!!

So today I am showing my new idea for a sleek, elegant, and fast, music player. Not a lot of bells and whistles which is what users want.
People are looking for a clutter free player, but one that also is good looking and easy to use. Navigation is quite simple, and the menu options are the same as in MediaPlayer [ MediaPlayer | Audio | Video | Attributes ] and everything else can be found inside the player.

WARNING: THIS IS A MOCK-UP DESIGN, AND DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST ON MY/ANY HAIKU COMPUTER!!!

So without further ado, I present: PHONOGRAPH

http://master-of-design.deviantart.com/#/d4qvwlk

As you might see, there is no icon or notification by tracker, that is because as I stated before, this doesn't actually exist.

I hope you all like it.... I will be working with this still, so there might be some changes.... but in the future.

Cheers!
