The theory behind the GUI

While watching different idéas for the GUI-design I often think "That's beautiful, but is it functional?". My opinion is that the GUI should be functional /usable and beautiful. Are there any special effects they should have a function of usability.

Most of us like the BeOS R5 look.
I think we could be inspired by others GUI and discuss about them for Haiku post R1.. Don't be ashamed to link Linux sites :lol:

We've been talking a lot about themes, skins and icons.

But what about fonts?

Shouldn't we have our own font as a brand for Haiku?

basic gui, still wip. I wil add window with the same kind of theme and ill do some changes to the design, like some colors !

Haiku Logo

I've been looking for a large, high-quality, Haiku logo for a while yet no one seems to have one. So I figured I'd create one myself and share it with everyone.

I'm uploading two versions, all of them are 1600 x 378 pixels. The PNG version has a transparent background, and the TIFF version has a transparent background and has individual layers.

Well here's my try at a GUI mockup for Haiku.

I really love the beos style do I didn't want to stray too far. I just tried imaging what BeOS would look like if it was still in development today.
