BeOS on PowerMac 7200

Forum thread started by Dreamcast270mhz on Sun, 2009-10-25 15:54

All of the old documents say that BeOS doesn't support powermac 7200's out of teh box, but what if I have a G3/G4 sonnet card in it? Will BeOS then support it? Or will I have to wait for haiku to be ported to it?

future of cloud computing?

I walked to work one morning and thought something like this:
What if there's some universal radio dataconnection chip that's fast and can be put everywhere? Then things could "talk" together. For instance - there's your Haiku machine. And besides is your printer. Both have microprocessors (the printer one is just less powerful). How about Haiku's print server would run in the printer itself? Then I got it - shared processor time over radio waves. If there's PDA and PC in the range, those could participate for example processing some 3D rendering and so on. Everything you need is one unified language that every device can talk.
So here Haiku comes in. It's massively multi-threaded, can run on several processors...why not on several devices simultaneously?

Uh oh, Ubuntu leapfroged Haiku in boot time

It looks like Ubuntu boots in 5 seconds on an SSD. Haiku Alpha R1 takes 7, arguably 8 seconds on my SSD. Looks like we've lost a bragging point until Haiku is optimized. (Or perhaps my SSD's performance is significantly less than the Ubuntu developer's SSD, which is very possible although they should still be similar.)

Where to get the Zeta Live CD

Forum thread started by person15253849 on Fri, 2009-09-18 08:57

Hi everyone, I've been a haiku user for quite some time, but I've found this distro (Its very similar to Haiku) Zeta 1.5. I would swap Haiku for this in a heartbeat. Anyone know where I could get the Live CD? It's no longer available on the manufacturers website. D:

I'm a big BeOS fan, and Haiku is a promising project, But I really want to try this out too...

Thanks in advance to any help!

"Switch to BeOS, because we only support Windows"

The best part is, they have Absolutely Nothing to do with BeOS at all... the whole BeOS thing is practically evangelism. They say they chose their name because they wanted to let people know how great BeOS is. But after all that, they're completely unprepared for the case where a BeOS user might actually show up...

Is Bebits dead ?

Forum thread started by remi_grumeau on Wed, 2009-08-05 18:13

I can't find any related news but it seems that bebits.com is not responding anymore.
Does anyone have any clue or more information about that ?

Bebits.com is simply the beating heart of BeOS ... everything is there
