Haiku logo'd USB flash memory sticks

Forum thread started by scottmc on Mon, 2009-06-22 09:19

We are looking into offering some USB flash memory sticks with a Haiku logo on them. We would use the proceeds to help offset the costs for doing the upcoming shows, with the excess funds raised going to Haiku. These would be either 512MB or 1GB sticks. If you are interested, send an email to haiku-usbstick@scottmc.com, with your name, and how much you'd be willing to donate. Get your request in by 2009-06-26 and we'll tally up the number wanted and see if this is worth pursuing or not. Here's a link to an example of what they might look like:

News at Mainpage

Forum thread started by Netzvamp on Fri, 2008-12-19 15:17

Hi guys,

since 2 Months no News at the mainpage. I think we need more News at the first page of the Haikuwebsite, cuz many ppl only looking there and not at the blogs. But it should be good to give them the feeling that haiku is alive and in development :)

For me personal interesting (and i hope for others too):
- Any plans about the first official Alpha? I know it's hard to plan/say, but it's hard (for me) to wait without an time-informations :)
- Whats with the M68k-Port? Any builds out there? My Mac LC III is waiting :D

Thanks for your great work,

Netzvamp

bling'n'stuff

I was looking for some Haiku stuff on http://www.cafepress.com/haiku_os and to be honest the stuff looks a bit outdated and... 'elderly'(?). T's look a bit like something someone in a retirement home might wear... Maybe some folks from the forums' 'Creative Design' section could maybe 'up' the stuff a little? I could, but I'm not any good.. :P

Materials to get developers interested in Haiku?

Forum thread started by phatpenguin on Tue, 2008-10-21 12:42

I live in Preston UK, and University Of Central Lancashire has a big Linux lab and lots of Linux and Unix development graduates and students.

Is there some form of marketing materials I can have and talk my friends that work at the university into encouraging sudents, lecturers and graduates to contribute their time and talents to the Haiku Project?

Youtube

I think the easiest way to promote Haiku would be a youtube campaign. Haiku was demoed successfully at many conferences so the idea would be to give that same presentation to the youtube community. It is important to stress that Haiku Inc is a non profit and that Haiku itself is free and open source.

List for Pressreleases?

As you all know, Haiku is getting closer and closer to a state where it'll be of the interest to put it in the general interest so to speak =). Congrats to that, however, it's not just having something which automatically brings attention.

Anyway, since we're out of budget for anything marketing related, we need to use whatever we can to get the publicity needed, when we're there (Note: I'd consider that being an issue for the admin team).
